hey there, thanks for taking time to visit my website.
this site is dedicated to my Amateur Radio hobby, and the stuff that goes along with it.
have a look through the various bits, and leave a comment in the guest book if you wish.

a brief radio history:-

I first played with radio at a family members house, must have been late 1980/early 1981.
the rig was a GE of some type, basic 40 channel AM CB, into a mobile antenna on a biscuit tin!

shortly after, a friend got a CB, a Colt 295 I think, again 40ch. AM, and I was hooked.

I played about on friend's gear till I managed to get one of my own, that was a Harvard Good Buddy,
40ch. UKFM legal rig, with a dipole antenna, and batteries as a power supply.

then began the quest for more range!

various radio's and antenna's followed, some legal, most not, with various flavour's of amplifier thrown into the mix to add some extra grunt.

I got into 11m SSB DX around '87, a good time for the sunspots apparently, though that was beyond me at the time, I was just amazed at talking around the globe!

then it got more serious, bigger antenna's, bigger amp's, better radio's, Stateside. Caribbean, Australia, South America, you name it, I worked it.

of course, all that power in the hands of an unqualified operator were bound to cause trouble, and an ongoing feud with my neighbours over TVI and RFI led me to sit my RAE in 1994 I think.

shortly after sitting the exam, the radio police (DTI) appeared and confiscated all my gear.

my RAE results arrived whilst waiting for a court date, 2 diploma's non the less, and the court looked
on me as a 'bad boy turned good' and allowed me my legal gear back.

back then, the RAE only allowed you on VHF, so I took up the challenge of 6m DX, with a bit of Europe being my reward, but it wasn't enough.

I went QRT in 1998, an expanding family and disolution with VHF DX pushing me away from radio.

then I heard a rumour that class B holder's were going to be allowed on HF!

my interest was rekindled, the lure of exotic DX once again the driving force, and the rapid expansion began from basic HF set, upto the modest DX station you see within these pages.

I hope you enjoy your visit, come back soon, and I look forward to working you on the air!

best 73's, good luck, and good DX.
